Leading Ladies from Scripture Monday, February 13 (10:00 am to 3:30 pm) Jeannette Filthaut, SP
God has always called people (male and female) from a variety of walks of life to utilize their God-given gifts to lead differently than those in the current culture. We will spend this day reflecting on the following four images of female leadership from the Old Testament and explore how they are relevant to us as contemporary women and men:
1) Leader as MIDWIFE – Egyptian midwives Puah and Shiphrah (Ex.1): birthing ideas and dreams
2) Leader as CHOREOGRAPHER – Prophetess Miriam (Exodus 2, 15; Numbers 12): transforming individuals into a collective, compassionate vision
3) Leader as WEAVER – Deborah the judge (Judges 4, 5): weaving present realities into a hope-filled transformative future
4) Leader as INTERCESSOR – Queen Esther (Book of Esther): speaking strategically for others who are unable to speak for themselves
How are we being called to utilize our God-given gifts to make a difference in the lives of others? How are these women of the scriptures inviting us to bring a more feminine dimension to leadership in today’s world? Join us for an informative and lively day.
